GO FOR IT AGAIN
Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert
When we talk about heaven and earth, we are talking about God's space and our space. In the beginning these two spaces were overlapping and interwoven. That's what the place called the Garden of Eden was about. It's a place where men and God work together in harmony. But after the sin of Adam and Eve, the relationship between man and God broke down. And the two spaces were driven apart. Psalm 115:16 .
But God did not give up. He took another step to achieve His original plan, that is, to connect the two spaces again. In view of this truth, I want to talk to you about 'Going for It Again.' John 3:16.
Most times, to succeed in life does not happen at one attempt. Sometimes, you have to do it again and again to get to success. The fact that you do it couple of times and failed does not say it won’t happen. You can go for it again. Do not get so stuck in the rut that you don’t do it again. You got to wake up some fresh enthusiasm and bring up fresh energy from within.
Some say once opportunity is lost, it cannot be regained. But I stand to tell you that the God we serve never runs out of fresh opportunities. He is ready always to bring new opportunities across your path, opportunities for exploits and increase. If you will stand up again and face forward, and take another step, new doors will open for you to go to the next level. He will bring somebody your way, a divine connection that will transport you to where God is taking you.
You might have failed in the past, and you have been hurt badly. And now you are afraid to try again. You think you might fail again. You started a business. It failed. Now, you don't want to try again. You think you might fail again. You lost your high school sweetheart. Now you are afraid to court, because you think you might fail again.
But I tell you, just because it didn’t work out at a certain time does not mean it’s over. What am I saying? Failure is not final. The fact that you failed does not mean you are finished. Peter fished all night, but caught no fish. But Jesus showed up, and asked him to launch into the deep for a catch. Peter did not say it, but I bet he was thinking, “I am tired. I am burned out. All I want is some nice meal and a bed, not another fishing trip." Besides, early morning is not a good time for fishing. But Peter took a launch again. And he got so much fish his net was breaking. Luke 5:1-11.
When something happened and you didn’t break through, don’t be discouraged and sit down there with your face to the ground. Be open to taking another step. That's what God did. That's why He doesn't want us stuck in one place. And you are not supposed to quit until you arrive at victory. God wants to see you do it. His faithfulness is not new every morning for nothing. He is always with you. And He surely will go with you if you will keep going. Lamentations 3:23.
You may have lost your passion since one thing did not work out. Now you are in that rut, still crying over what did not work. But this is a new day. God is ready to take you forward when you are ready. He’s got new opportunities waiting ahead. Do not ever say, “I can’t do this no more. I am too old now.” You got to shake all that off and say, “I am well able. I am equipped. I am anointed to do great things. If I have to do it again, I will. I got to go to a new level of my destiny.”
You already have a gift for doing things. You did it the first time. Yes, it did not work out. But do it again. It’s in you to succeed. It’s never too late. You are not too old. You won’t be here if God is not going to do it. Strike again. And the water will gush out this time.
You might need to stretch a little more. You got to stretch what’s on the inside. If you let your dream die, you have stopped living. You just exist. You got to revive your goals. Put new effort. Get passionate about your new dream. Let your enthusiasm get you out of bed every morning.
And it does not matter how many dreams had died on you before. You can always dream another dream. Just because it didn’t work out the way you had planned does not mean God has changed His plan. You cannot allow disappointments to convince you that it’s not going to happen.
The enemy might get you thinking, "It’s over. You are too old. You missed the mark and lost your chance." All these thoughts want to convince you that what God places in your heart cannot be done no more. You got to take your stand and say, “That's not for me. I am not going to sit around sucking my thumb. It may not work out the first time. I am going for it again. I must rise up and dream new dream.”
Think about Joshua when he took over the leadership from Moses, and he had to lead the Israelites to war against the people of Ai. This was the first real battle of his leadership. But they suffered defeat in the hand of the people of Ai. The hearts of the Israelites melted and became like water. It was so bad Joshua cried, "O Lord, what will You do for Your great name?"
But then, Joshua thought, "If we did not win the first time, I am not going to give up on God. We must go for it again, until we get victory. So they went into battle again. And they won, and won big. Joshua 7; 8.
When it doesn’t work out the first or second time, don’t sit around with your chin on your chest. You got to be willing to take a licking and keep ticking. You may miss it ten times. But the eleventh time is a sure Yes. You got to keep knocking. Keep believing. Keep dreaming. Keep going. Keep reaching for the goal. Keep waiting on the Lord, counting on His favor, His blessings, His goodness and power to make it happen. Isaiah 40:31.
You got to know that God knows every disappointment you go through. He knows every failure, every rejection or denial, every obstacle. None of that is a surprise to Him. In fact, God has it all figured out already. He has the solution before the situation arises. If something did not work out when you work at it, don’t turn away from it. Dream another dream. Take another step. Go for it again. And this time, it won’t fail.
Life may not be fair. But get this straight. God is fair. With God, the failure you experienced is not the final end of what He wants to do in your life. No beating you take that must take you away from your destiny. If you fail to get the job you want, apply to another company. If that business venture fails, start again. You are already in business.
What am I saying? That failure, that disappointment, that rejection, that turndown, is a retreat. You can always come back. You can go for it again, full force. Put on a new attitude. Take another step. God has His eyes on you. He has victory already written in the future of your destiny.
The Scripture says in Isaiah 60, "Arise and shine, for your light has come." If you let that light shine your eyes, you will see the great things God has in your future. And you will go out again with great enthusiasm, and walk with springs in your steps. Isaiah 60:1-2.
In 2012, things went down so bad, my dreams were shattered. I thought I would never preach again. Every thought was telling me I am washed out. I am done with business. I would never make it in ministry.
And when you are down, people start to count you out. But there is a difference between men and God. He lifts up the fallen. He gives hope to the hopeless, and strengthens the weak. By early 2013, God showed up again. And I lifted up my head; pushed back my shoulders, and stepped out again.
I hate divorce. I don’t believe it’s good for anyone. I almost got one, but I did not. My wife won’t go. And I did not know what to tell God and my kids. But I am not turning my back on divorced people, because unfortunately, some people get put asunder.
And if you lost a relationship to divorce, or to the final separation of death, I cannot say I know the measure of your pain, but I feel for you. And I know it’s never easy saying goodbye. But I also know that your life does not have to stop. Your God still has a plan He is working on for you. So, arise and shine. Shake off the dust of discouragement. Come out of that self pity. Receive mercy for your mistakes, and tell your heart to beat again. Your greatest victory is still in your future. So go for it again. Live again. Make new friends. Date again. Marry again. And you will yet laugh again.
Don’t give in to guilt and condemnation, and go through life beaten down and defeated. Just because you did not make it before does not mean you won’t make it now. The negative mistakes you made in the past do not negate your positive future. And the fact that your past was rough does not say your future is not bright. Besides, God can turn your mistakes into miracles and turn your sadness to gladness. Romans 8:28.
There is a place in the future where God is taking you. No power can stop you from getting there, not principalities, or power, or might, or dominion. God always has some ways to keep you going. You cannot let nothing kill your future either, not disappointment, not failure, not enemy. When one dream dies, dream another dream. When one step fails, take another step. Be willing to get to your Promised Land. Don’t get stuck in the wilderness. Keep moving; keep going, keep taking steps. Don’t stay there because you lost one battle. Don’t go back because you missed one victory. God has new victories right in front of you. And you will arrive.
You may have got a lot of failures and discouragements. But it’s time to arise and shine again. It’s time to dream again. It’s time to take another step. It's time to go for it again. It's time to tell the devil, “I am back. And I am bad.”
Today, I am standing on the Rock to let you know that the Jesus who stood by the Sea of Galilee to teach; the Jesus who saw the tired fisherman and entered his boat; the Jesus who turned his back on the adoration of a crowd to solve the frustration of a friend; the same Jesus who Peter called Master, the Son of the Living God, is standing here today as He always does. And He is asking you to dare to go for it again. And I promise you, the wind will blow again; the sun will rise again; the tide will flow again; the stars will shine again, and your hope shall end in great joy. And the rest of this year shall be the best of the year for you.
Hallelujah
LET'S PRAY:
Right now, lift your hands up and confess:
CONFESSION
I command my heart to beat again
I am going for the higher heights
I am reaching to the deeper depths
I PRAY FOR YOU
Before,
You have been looking at Jesus
Now you will see Him in an amazing way
And for your lost dreams
You will dream new dreams
The winds of heaven
Shall blow over your coal
And new fire of hope
Shall be kindled in you
And your sun shall rise again
And the rest of your life
Shall be the best of your life
And so shall it be
In the powerful name of Jesus
Thank You, Father Lord
AMEN.
Do you believe you can make it now?
If you do,
Then, give God a shout of victory
